The National Association of persons with disabilities, PWDs has called on ministries and agencies to tailor their budget estimates on how it will touch the lives of differently-abled people in the country.

National Vice-Chairman of the Association, Adamu Shu’aibu Jigawar-Tsada made the call at the dissemination of the 2021 & 2022 budget performance analysis organized by ELIP-I (PMP).

He decried the marginalization of persons with disabilities in most government budgets and other activities.

“We are therefore appealing to the various ministries and MDAs to please consider the interest of persons with disabilities in whatever they are proposing in the budgets”

“You have to ensure effective participation of persons with disabilities in all spheres of life, Education, Agriculture, Health, Empowerments, Works and Housing, and Transportation
to enable it to touch the lives of persons with disabilities in the country”.

He said this will help to combat discrimination and abuse, counter prejudices and protect their rights.

ELIP initiative known as Project monitoring partnership state coordinator represented by Ayuba Muhammad said the dissemination of 2021 & 2022 budget performance analysis was organized by ELIP, to Analyze various budget performance at the Priority sectors to improve the budget implementation in the state.

Earlier, the Jigawa State partnership facilitator, PERL Ibrahim Baban-Galla said the aim of the programme is to support communities in identifying their problems and inform the relevant authorities to proffer solutions.

“Our target is to engage citizens to bring out their demand and engage Governments constructively”.
