Feyenoord striker, Cyriel Dessers has criticised the decision to award the hosting right of the UEFA Europa Conference League final to the city of Tirana, Albania.

The Arena Kombëtare, Tirana, will host the final of the first edition of the competition between Dessers’ Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord Rotterdam and Italian club AS Roma.

The ground can only take 20,000 fans and the forward believes it is not a befitting venue for a big European final.

“That is a bit of a shame. It is a beautiful stadium, but still a bit too small for two big clubs such as Feyenoord and AS Roma,” Dessers was quoted by Sporza.

The 27-year-old has caught the eye with his superlative displays for Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League this season.

Dessers, who is on loan at Feyenoord from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk is the top scorer in the competition with 10 goals.

Coming up against Jose Mourinho’s Roma will be a different test and the Nigerian is looking forward to the game.

“There is a healthy tension, you have felt that since the match against Marseille. That is also due to the media, the supporters, the stage. They are building towards the final, but I also like that,” he added.
