Former Frank Lampard’s assistant at Chelsea, Jody Morris has revealed that outgoing defender, Andreas Christensen has a track record of pulling out of matches.
The 26-year-old Denmark international pulled out of Thomas Tuchel’s FA Cup final squad against Liverpool on Saturday.
Chelsea went on to lose the match 6-5 on a penalty shootout.
Tuchel was frustrated by the decision, arguing that while Christensen had his reasons for not wanting to play, Chelsea was left short at late notice by Dane’s absence.
Morris says the Dane did similar things during Lampard’s short spell at Stamford Bridge between 2019 and 2021.
“To be fair we experienced that (pulling out of matches) ourselves when we were here working with Andreas,” Moris told Stadium Astro.
“You never know what some players are going through. Whether it be nerves, whether it be something off the pitch.
‘We experienced it a few times with Andreas but I don’t think he’s the only player who experienced it. He’s probably more honest about that sort of side of it.”
Christensen has already agreed on a deal to join Barcelona in the summer and Tuchel suggested on Wednesday that the Dane may have played his last game for the club.
