Chelsea star, Mason Mount has said that he is ready to take over as the next captain of the club.

Cesar Azpilicueta, who is currently the Blues captain, is said to be on the verge of joining Barcelona this summer.

According to reports in Europe, the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla will see the end of Azpilicueta’s stay at Stamford Bridge.

Azpilicueta, who is one of the longest players at Chelsea, has spent nine trophy-laden years at Stamford Bridge.

Azpilicueta was not available for Chelsea Wednesday defeat to Charlotte and in his absence, Mount wore the armband.

“Yes, I am still young and I am still learning but whenever the opportunity comes to step up I want to take it,” Mount told reporters.

“Obviously, the gaffer trusted me with captaining the side in the second half and I take that responsibility.”
