Manchester United hero, Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to sign Norwich City right-back, Max Aarons this summer to play under manager, Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand believes Aarons, who could be available for a cut-price fee after Norwich were relegated to the Championship, could have an immediate impact at Man United.

Speaking on his Vibe with FIVE YouTube show, Ferdinand said: “Someone like Max Aarons, you could put him like a Chris Smalling-type signing where they come in and they’ve an impact.

“They may not be straight starters immediately, but they go and they stay there for ten years and have a really good career and they impact the club at different levels.”

He added: “I think the way [Erik] Ten Hag’s playing, looking at it, it is like, “We are going to be the team that is the aggressor, we are going to be the team that dictates and dominates the games”. So he is looking to play on the halfway line.

“So defending crosses, he was a threat in the opposing box as well. So it can be done, but whether he is that guy, time will tell.”
