The reason Manchester City stars, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling missed the club’s Premier League trophy parade on Monday evening has been revealed.

Man City won the 2021/22 Premier League title this season on Sunday after beating Aston Villa at Etihad.

But Jesus and Sterling, who were central to Man City’s success this season, were notable absentees during their open-top bus parade on Monday evening.

Jesus played an increasingly influential role during the closing weeks of the campaign, but the Brazilian is keen to leave Man City following the signing of Erling Haaland from Dortmund.

Sterling, meanwhile, is set to enter the final year of his contract and, having lost his regular starting position, has been linked with a move this summer, with Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham said to be interested in him.

According to The Sun, both players were unable to attend Monday’s coronation due to ‘unavoidable family reasons’.
