Gbenga Odunsi is stepping down as Editor of Information Nigeria— one of Nigeria’s most influential online newspapers— ending his 3-year run at the publication’s helm, the paper announced on Wednesday.
Odunsi led Information Nigeria team from the newsroom. In his editorial capacity, he had previously worked as Editor at Aljazirah Nigeria Newspaper in Abuja; Editor at New Express, Lagos, before joining Information Nigeria in 2019.
In the new appointment, Mayowa Samuel was named the new Editor. His previous journalistic stint with Peoples Gazette, All News, and The Point made him stand out from other applicants who applied for the role.
In his acceptance speech, Samuel said, “… be rest assured that I will I bring my knowledge to bare, so as to further enhance the progress of your news outfit…”
Information Nigeria currently has online circulation of over 5 million readers, making it the most popular online news platform in Nigeria. The news platform has a long record of being the first in breaking the news, churning out balanced and unbiased reports, and not in affiliation with any political party or religious movement in Nigeria.
