A governorship aspirant in the Action Alliance in Rivers State, Aleruchi Williams, has instituted a legal action against the party, its governorship candidate, Dawari George and the Independent National Electoral Commission before a Federal High Court sitting in Port over alleged unlawful selection.

Williams, who came second during the Action Alliance governorship primaries, is asking the court to direct INEC not to recognize but disqualify Dawari George from contesting the election.

He also prayed the court to recognize him as the governorship candidate of the party.

When the matter came up in court on Wednesday, counsel to the plaintiff, Celestine Wosa applied for a motion ex-parte for a substituted service which will give him the opportunity to serve the third respondent, Dawari George by pasting the court processes on the wall of his residence in Port Harcourt.

The Presiding Judge, Justice, Sa’adatu Mark, after listening to the counsel, adjourned till 5th of September, 2022 for ruling on the motion.

Similarly, Justice Mark also adjourned to 14th of September, 2022 to commence hearing on a suit filed by the All Progressives Congress against the Peoples Democratic Party.

The APC is asking the court to disqualify all candidates of the PDP for the 2023 general elections for allegedly delaying in forwarding the register containing the names of their candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission within thirty days as required by law.

The APC also wants the court to disqualify all the PDP candidates in the state for not properly signing the letter containing the names of the candidates before forwarding it.
