Sky Bet Championship club, Cardiff City have announced the signing of Nigerian defender Jamilu Collins on a two-year contract.

Collins linked up with the Bluebirds on a free transfer after recently severing ties with Bundesliga 2 side SC Paderborn.

The 27-year-old spent five years at Paderborn, scoring two goals in 137 appearances.

The left-back is Cardiff City’s fourth signing following the arrivals of winger Ollie Tanner, goalkeeper Jak Alnwick and midfielder Ebou Adams.

“I’m really excited to be in Cardiff, and I can’t wait to get started,” Collins told the club’s official website after penning his contract.

“The Club has a great history, and when I got the call to come to Cardiff, I was so excited, I couldn’t resist. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new season.

“The goal is to fight for the Premier League. I can’t wait to meet the supporters and to fight for the jersey.”

The experienced defender played for several clubs in Croatia before switching over to Germany.

The clubs include; HNK Rijeka, NK Pomorac, HNK Šibenik and Istra 1961.

On the international scene, Collins was part of the Super Eagles squad that came third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
