Rangers and Scotland legend, Ally McCoist has told Chelsea star, Conor Gallagher to leave Stamford Bridge before 11pm on Thursday.

About five Premier League clubs are looking to sign the England midfielder on deadline day.

The midfielder wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and cement a place in the Chelsea first-team but only came on as a late substitute in the Blues opening two games of the season.

He started Thomas Tuchel’s side’s trip to Leeds United earlier in the month but was subbed off in the second-half with the west London club trailing by two goals.

Gallagher was later sent off before the half-hour mark during Chelsea’s home game against Leicester City for a second booking in the space of seven minutes.

And McCoist, who is an admirer of the 22-year-old, believes he may need to leave Stamford Bridge.

“He’s got to think about himself, his future,” McCoist said on talkSPORT.

“He had a brilliant period at Palace, he had a top class time there.

“Will he play consistently in that Chelsea team? Will he play consistently enough to get in the squad for Qatar? I’m not too sure to be honest with you.

“I think he’s probably got a better chance of going to Qatar if he goes back to Palace. I can see him being a mainstay in that side, whereas I’m not sure he will be at Chelsea.

“So it’s a big decision he’s got to make.”
